The kiln drawn line by line, or chamber by chamber. Line 1 is at the top middle and the lines run counter-clockwise to the last line. The cards above the plan count units in each state. If the owner set the layout to Both (lesson 4), a Chambers / Lines switch above the plan flips between the two views.

| Green | Preheating | Marked by hand as preheating. |
| Red | Firing | The fire is here (latest firing entry). |

Using a line
- Tap a line. Its panel slides up (on a computer it opens beside the plan).
- The coloured stage buttons walk the line forward: Loading › Preheating › Firing › Cooling › Unloading. Only the next allowed step can be tapped.
- ‹ › in the panel moves to the previous or next line; ✕ closes.
- The panel shows loading date, firing date, cooling date, bricks, coal, notes on issues, and the history of earlier rounds.
Fire position: The red line always follows the latest firing entry (lesson 13). To move the fire, log firing on the next line.
